Wat

is een controle?

Tijdens de controle wordt de gezondheid van het gebit beoordeeld en wordt gevraagd naar je algemene gezondheid. Er wordt gekeken naar mondhygiëne, gaatjes, slijtage en de gezondheid van het tandvlees. Ook wordt een risico-inschatting gemaakt voor mogelijke problemen in de toekomst.

Visueel onderzoek

De tandarts of mondhygiënist onderzoekt je mond, tanden, tandvlees, tong en keel visueel op tekenen van tandsteen, plaque, tandbederf, tandvleesproblemen, mondkanker of andere slijmvliesafwijkingen.

Parodontaal onderzoek

De tandarts meet de diepte van de pockets rondom je tanden. Diepe pockets kunnen wijzen op tandvleesziekte.

Röntgenfoto's

Afhankelijk van je tandheelkundige geschiedenis en de bevindingen tijdens het visuele onderzoek, kunnen röntgenfoto's worden gemaakt om een beter beeld te krijgen van de structuren onder het tandvlees, zoals wortels en kaakbot en in het tandweefsel zoals gaatjes. Dit helpt problemen zoals gaatjes tussen de tanden, botverlies of verborgen tandheelkundige problemen te identificeren.

Bespreking en advies

Na het onderzoek bespreekt de tandarts de bevindingen met je. Hij/zij geeft advies over de algehele mondgezondheid, eventuele problemen en aanbevelingen voor behandeling of verbeteringen in je mondhygiëne.
